Ice Festival of Mongolia

Mongolian northern region residents organize the Ice Festival annually during winter on the icy surface of Khuvsgul lake. Interesting fact is that this festival used to be a small regional festival, but now it is a national festival, attracting more and more people every year.
First organized in the year 2000 among the locals to promote the protection of Khuvsgul lake, there was a race of 6 sleighs but only in 18 years, this race turned into a big race of 50 sleighs which attracts foreign and local tourists alike to the festival.
Local and foreign tourists visit Khuvsgul lake to enjoy the festival and explore the wonderful nature. The number of foreign reputable media made a program about the Ice Festival of Mongolia.
