Tipping in Mongolia

So you finally get a chance to visit Mongolia and travel through the country, and you enjoy it – very much that you would like to show appreciation to your tour guide for the unforgettable trip. If so, how much should you tip? Is tipping normal in where you are?

In Mongolia, tipping is not considered conventional traditionally; however, Mongolians working in tourism-related fields (guides, drivers, bellhops and waiters at restaurants frequented by foreigners) are becoming more open to receiving tips. If you well pleased with the service from your tour guide and driver, a 10% to 20% tip of tour price is appreciated.

Also, at fine restaurants in the cities where they are more regular to Western visitors, you may leave tips to your waiter to show your appreciation if you are satisfied with their service.

Who knows what the future holds.
