What are the main export and imports of Mongolia?
Traditionally dependent on herding and agriculture, Mongolian economic activity dramatically changed due to extensive mineral deposits that account for a large part of its production and exports. Mongolia joined the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 1997.
Export: Top exports comprise of coal, copper, gold, crude petroleum, cashmere, animal origin products, hides and skins. Mongolia’s main exports destinations are China, Russia, Japan, Turkey, Italy. England.
Import: Mongolia import mainly include refined petroleum, mineral products, machinery, equipment, electric appliances, recorders, TV sets & spare parts, vehicles, food products and base metals. Mongolia’s main import partners are Russia and China. Others include Japan, USA and South Korea, Germany.
In the first 10 months of 2019, Mongolia traded with 152 countries, exported goods to 75 countries and imported goods from 150 countries.
